October 30, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 43 WINNETKA TAKES JUMP IN BUILDING ACTIVITY Village Department Issues Per- mits Totaling $234,825 Dur- ing Month of October Winnetka, which throughout the present year has been setting a lively pace in building activities for all north shore communities, again comes for- ward with a splendi¢ October record in which the total permits issued up to, and including Wednesday, of this week, reached $234,825. A. B. Krieg, building inspector, says there are numerous other applications pending, and anticipates that before the close of the month the total valu- ation of permits issued will have ex- ceeded the $300,000 mark. Ten permits for new structures cost- ing $205,000 had been issued up to the close of Wednesday. Six permits for alterations and remodeling of build- ings, amounted to $26,875 and six garages were authorized costing $2,950. New Assembly Hall The permits for the erection of the new brick and tile assembly hall at North Shore Country work on which is now under way, heads the list of new buildings in the matter of cost, this permit calling for David Oliver, of Evanston, was issued two permits for residences, each costing $20,000. They will be of brick veneer on frame. One will be located at 521 Walnut street and the other at 354 Elder lane. P. W. Bradstreet is building a $16,- 000 residence of frame and stucco, with attached garage, at 597 Oak street. Dr. Julius Block has taken out a permit for a one and one-half story brick veneer residence at 194 Fuller lane, costing $15,000. E. T. Leonard and company were given permits for two residences, one to be of brick veneer on frame, located at 66 Warwick road, costing $14,000 and the other, a stucco on frame, at 70 Warwick road. costing $13,000. Benson Landon is building a con- crete block residence at 554 Meadow road, costing $13,000. Homes Lead in Permits A permit has been issued to R. B. Faxon for a frame residence with garage attached, at 1214 Cherry street, costing $10,000. G. C. Schlums will erect a one and one-half story frame residence at 933 Cherry street, costing $4,000. Permits for alterations and remodel- ing were issued to C. C. Coolidge for a brick addition and alterations to his residence at 920 Euclid avenue, cost- ing $15,000. John D.
