WINNETKA TALK November 6, 1926 National College Starts Radio Talks for Mothers "Acquisitiveness and Generosity" was the subject of an interesting radio talk given by Miss Edna Dean Baker, president of the National Kindergarten and Elementary college over the Daily News station, WMAQ, on Wednesday afternoon, November 3. The address was the first of a series on child training which will be given at 4:15 o'clock on the afternoon of the first Wednesday of each month during the winter, for the benefit of mothers who are confronted with many serious problems in the moral-social education of little children. A similar series was conducted by the college last winter, and proved of great in- terest. to many mothers. John R. Montgomery of 15 Green Bay road was a member of the special invitation committee for the World Alliance luncheon given Thursday in the ballroom of the La Salle hotel. Dr. Nehemiah Boynton executive chair- man of the alliance, and Henry Mor- genthau, former ambassador to Tur- key, were the guests of honor. The World Alliance, it is stated, has been organized for the promotion of in- ternational friendship. --(-- Sam Rothermel of Valley road, Glen- coe, brother 'of William Rothermel of Provident avenue, Winnetka, is presi- dent of the Chicago Alumni club which held its annual banquet last Saturday in honor of Coach Stagg and the Uni- versity of Chicago football team at the La Salle hotel. Harry O. Gillett, principal of the Elementary school of the Universi- ty of Chicago, will address a joint ses- sion of all sections upon the subject, "Problems in the Child's Social Ad- justment." STARS AT BELOIT Walter Schroeder of Glencoe, grad- uate of New Trier High school who last summer won a trip to Europe in the Lloyd Hollister, Inc, salesmanship contest, is making his mark in athlet- ics at Beloit college, according to word from the Wisconsin school. Wal- ter has made a place for himself on the Beloit freshman football squad. On Thursday, October 28, Mrs. Ralph S. Gromann, 213 Sixth street, Wilmette, formerly of Kenilworth, en- tertained at a bridge-luncheon for her club. Mrs. Alfred Roy Hulbert, 528 Abbottsford road, won first prize and Mrs. F. E. M. Cole, 315 Essex road, won second prize. ---- Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Hyman of 630 Garland avenue, will entertain twenty of their friends at bridge and supper, the evening of November 12.
