Colby, staff correspondent of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce, who has been writing the very inter- esting articles "Rediscovering Illinois." These stories have been appearing for some time in the press through- out the state, and as was plainly evi- denced by the brief verbal sketches which Mr. Colby gave Monday eve- ning, have been arousing renewed in- terest and inspiration among her citi- zens in general. Harry Baxter, district secretary of the Field department of the Chamber of Commerce of the United States, was also present and made a splendid ad- dress on the work of the national Chamber. Action on the matter of the Win- netka Chamber of Commerce affiliat- ing with the State and the National associations, was deferred until a fu- ture meeting. The Monday evening session was preceded by a chicken dinner, served at Matz hall, Community House. William T. Wersted, vice-president of the Winnetka Chamber of Com- merce, presided at the business ses- sion. The opening session, Tuesday, No- vember 16, will be one of welcome, and of especial interest to the Winnetka women, will be the luncheon that day | when the local committee chairmen 'give their reports. Mrs. Gross T. Wil- |liams of 777 Locust road will report {on the social hygiene committee, Mrs. | Charles Strong of 699 Locust road will | speak for the Child Welfare com- mittee. The committees on internation- al relations and education will be rep- resented by Mrs. William B. Hale of 900 Willow road, and Mrs William B. Moulton of 1161 Pine street. Mrs. D. | Bligh Grassett of 797 Walden road will speak for the citizenship com- | mittee. Mrs. Walter Benson will attend the luncheon discussing the legal status of women, Mrs. Hyman Raclin also will lattend to discuss women in industry, {and Mrs. John VanderVries will dis- cuss the living cost. Mrs. VanderVries has been asked to address the Citizenship School com- mittee meeting on "How to Run a Successful One Day Citizenship School." Mrs. VanderVries, president of the Winnetka league, will address the convention on Wednesday, Novem- ber 17. The public is cordially invited, the league states.
