Waller Marshall, president of the Vocational Society for Shut-Ins, Mrs. Clair E. More, general chairman for the benefit ball to be given Friday, December 10, for the society, and a group of active women are busy pre- paring for this event which will take place in the Aragon ballroom at Law- rence and Winthrop avenues. Through the efforts of Mrs. More, the three owners of the Aragon have donated the use of the ballroom, and the orchestras, free of charge. An- other bit of good news, when a char- ity ball is given, and all the proceeds are treasured, is that the souvenir pro- grams, invitations and all printed ma- terial has been donated by one of the large printing firms. Maude Ellis of Chicago, has designated a most at- tractive poster in her inimitable style, and she has done this without charge, so all the expenses for the ball are wiped out at one fell swoop, and the tickets can be sold and profits turned over at almost no subtraction of large expenses. The ball will begin at 9 o'clock this year, earlier than usual. Delightful entertainment is being furnished un- der the direction of Miss Olga Menn, who announces that opera and stage stars will entertain at 11:30, the names to be announced later. Supper, for which there will be a small charge, will be served, for those who wish it. Mrs. Marshall, who is in charge of the tickets, has announced that boxes are to be sold, more than 100 of them. They will be located directly around the ballroom floor, and in the balcony. All boxes and tickets are being sold at reasonable prices. Anyone desiring information regarding tickets may phone Mrs. Marshall at Winnetka 1128, or Mrs. Laird Bell at Winnetka 183. Evanston people may get in touch with Mrs. Charles Dennis, at Univers- ity 9115. Besides Mrs. More, the general chairman, and Miss Menn the enter- tainment chairman, Miss Elaine Black- man of the South Shore Country club is taking charge of the publicity. Arnold R. Baar of 642 Cherry street will return this week from Philadel- phia, where he has been attending the annual meeting of the National Tax association.
