SELBY Old Boreas, who has taken up his abode in Winnetka and whose icy breath and snowy mantles are designed to dampen somewhat the ardor of all building activities, has, himself been receiving the "cold shoulder." During the first fifteen days of No- vember, eighteen building permits were issued, totalling $229,430, and A. B. Krieg, the village building inspector, says the indications are very favorable that this amount may be increased be- fore the end of the month to a figure which will exceed the excellent record of something like $300,000 for October. Twelve of the eighteen permits were for two story residences, ranging in price from $8,000 to $40,000. There was only one as low as $8,000. There was one at $30,000, the others ranging around the $15,000 mark. Six of the permits were for garages, totalling $2,230, and one was to L. Bell for a second story addition to a garage at 1352 Tower road, and to cost $7,200. Builds $40,000 Home The permits for the twelve resi- dences were as follows: To James N. Rawleigh, for a two story residence of stucco on hollow tile, at 933 Hill road, $40,000. To Charles IL. Weeks, for a two story brick veneer on frame residence with attached garage, at 170 Linden avenue, $30,000.
