'- November 27, 1926 WINNETKA TALK 15 BUILDERS FINISH HOME | WITH SPANISH FEATURES E. T. Leonard Company Builds Seven Room Home Among Uak Trees on Foxdale Avenue The E. T. Leonard company of 556 Center street, Winnetka, builders of homes that are different, are just now completing one of the prettiest of the numerous residences which they have constructed on the north shore during the past season. It is located at 811 Foxdale avenue, on the east side of the street and just north of Eldorado street, on a lot 50 by 150 feet on which are a number of good sized oak trees, a splendid setting for featuring this seven-room Spanish mission house. The exterior is of rough plaster fin- ish. A bright tile roof and a flagstone terrace with mission rail complete the mission style on which the design is founded. The large vestibule is floored with a bright tile of wood fibre, giving at the same time the effect required in the architectural scheme and assuring greater comfort than stone or real tile. The same style of flooring is also used in the sun room. Living Room Offers Features A large living room, the floor of which is one step lower than the en- trance hall, is featured with a mis- sion fireplace at one end of the room, with book cases on either side of the mantle, and a mission grill opening be- tween the living room and dining room. Beamed ceiling and side lights throw- ing softened rays from special bulbs encased in scenic sconces complete the attractive designing of this section of the house. A quaint breakfast nook, frigidaire, ventilating fan and a lay out which has in mind convenience and comfort at every turn, feature the kitchen. The dining room is spacious and exceeding- ly well lighted. There are four bed rooms on the second floor, with sand finished walls, in colors. The minimum of trim is used throughout the house, all in dark mis- sion stain. Tubs Recessed in Arches There is a toilet and lavatory on the first floor and two bathrooms on the second, in both of which tile is used in the floor and 'wall finish. The tubs are in arched recesses, with a shower over each. The medicine cabinets are something new, comprising two compartments, with tripple mirror doors. The lighting fixtures throughout the house are of Spanish copper, and in an entirely new design. They were in- stalled by the Kordick Electric com- pany of Winnetka, The North Shore Gas company is installing the laundry equipment. The building, including a garage, has been put on the market, the E. T. Leonard company announces. Fire Chief Gives Advice on Holiday Illumination G. M. Houren, chief of the Winnetka fire department, wishes again to re- mind residents of Winnetka, at the approaching of Christmas holidays, to pursue the safer plan of making ar- rangements for electrical illumination of Christmas trees, instead of using the lighted candles. "The lighted can- dles are a hazard," Chief Houren says, and, "according to the village ordin- ance are not permitted in public gath- erings. Electric candles will look just as well and are safer," he said. details for any party. 819 Oak Street Pure Home Made ICE CREAM ADE from the freshest of 100% cream Whether it's for Sunday Dinner or OUR CATERING SERVICE With Delicatessen Goods, and our well known Home Baked Delicacies and Pastries, we offer a Catering service that will work out all the food OPEN SUNDAYS--9-12; 4-6 Smith's Delicatessen Smith's in our own kitchens. any time during the week, it makes the best tasting and healthiest dessert. 80c Quart We Deliver Free Phone 112 Your Furnace!
