The street which it is desired to have vacated lies between the present de- veloped New Trier High school grounds and the undeveloped portion which lies east of the street. The Vil- lage council announces that it will be glad to have anyone interested in the matter attend the meeting next Tues- day evening. Joyce who was returned to Winnetka from Mil- waukee, last week on the charge of working a confidence game, had his case continued last Monday for a week, while the service officers of the Ameri- can Legion are looking into his case Mount's home is in the East but he is desirous of getting into a climate which he hopes will be more beneficial for lung trouble from which he is suf- fering. He was gassed, while in the service, and has never recovered from the effects of the ailment. He was honorably discharged from the Army in which his record, it is said, was ex- cellent, and in which he attained the rank of sergeant major. If the service officers of the American Legion here, find that there are no more serious charges against him than what have thus far been revealed, they will make an effort to have him placed in a hos- pital. The American legion maintains a service bureau in Winnetka for the aid of ex-service men, whenever such aia is warranted. Their's is not a white- wash affair, however, in which crime is condoned in the accused, merely because he is a member of the Legion. But, rather, it is the purpose of the bureau to thoroughly investigate each impositors will be prosecuted with a case from all angles, and to help, where help is warranted. Eckhart, and Carroll Dean Murphy were north shore members of the committee of the Union League club that held open house following the Army-Navy game.
