Dix is featured as the son of a man who has been attending univer- sity since 1899 because he promised his wife that he'd stay there until his school beat the crack state football team. In the 27 years in which he is studying, his son has grown up and entered college. What happens when the latter is pushed into the game at the crucial moment is an exciting cli- max of the story. TAT DE FLV RAT i A rn ri ER ARR | Local Gridders Squelch Glencoe Athletes 19 to 0 The Winnetka Wildcats their fifth victory of the Sunday at the Skokie school field, when they routed the Glencoe A.C. by a score of 19 to 0. The passing attack of the Wildcats was impossible for the Glen- coe aggregation to solve. Time after time the Flynn to Belmont combination netted from 10 to 30 yards. Although Glencoe outweighed the Wildcats by a considerable margin, they were un- able to puncture their forward wall and therefore resorted to the overhead attack, which was not at all success- ful against the box defense of the Wildcats. The Wildcats intercepted many of their passes and on two oc- casions turned them into touchdowns, one by Baker and another by Belmont. The Wildcats won the toss-up, and after receiving, Baker, Runnfeldt, Flynn, and Belmont returned the ball to Glencoe's 20 yard line, on line plays and passes. Here Glencoe held on four consecutive plays and got possession of the ball. The game continued on even terms until the close of the sec- ond quarter when two Glencoe passes were intercepted, which resulted in touchdowns. In the third quarter Baker, the speed artist of the Wild- cats, caught a pass and romped 40 yards for the third touchdowns. The extra point was made on a pass from a fake kick formation, Belmont to Whelan. From here on the Wildcats played a defensive game and when the whistle blew for the teams to depart from the field, the Wildcats were on Glencoe's 7 yard line and went off with the big end of a 19-0 victory. Sunday at 2:30 the Wildcats will play the Ex-Collegians, which is the only team that has beaten the locals, This was done by a field goal by L. Golitz from the 35 yard mark. How- ever, the Wildcats have improved greatly and hope to avenge the Col- legians' 3-0 victory. Come out and see if they can do it, on a wet, soft, or hard field, is the Wildcat invitation. 606.16.06 3636.36 36 36.36.36 34 Give Hosiery | the expressive gift! \ Pure Silk 2 Chiffon Hose $1.95 3 pair for $5.50 registered season last Service hose with Lisle top and sole, $1.95--3 pair for $5.50 Service Chiffon Hose; $1.50--3 pair for $4.25 pair PcoL & PIPER CHILDREN'S SHOE SPECIALISTS 1608 Chicago Avenue Evanston EY Lz am
