Preceding the business twenty-five postmasters and their guests, consisting of the super- visory officials and clerks from various post offices enjoyed a dinner at the Hay Lofte. Talks were made by the president of the association, Joseph E. Shantz Wilmette postmaster, and Postmaster William J. Hamilton of Evanston on the best methods of hand- ling the Christmas mail, particularly the most efficient way to expedite de- liveries during this holiday period, and at a minimum expense to the Depart- ment. The supervisors of the various departments at the Evanston post office gave the association the benefit of their long experience in postal work. Postmaster Hamilton had a unique exhibition consisting of preparations for the Christmas work. session Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority of Northwestern university is entertain- ing at its formal dance of the winter season Saturday, Deéember 11, for active members and alumnae. The dance is to be held in Evanston at the Evanston Country club. SO Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Batchelder, 120 Woodbine avenue, left Tuesday of last week for Clearwater, Fla, to spend the winter. Victor Carlson Opens Office in Chicago's Loop A well known builder, who started in Chicago in 1906, then expanded and dotted the skyline of Evanston with several imposing structures, has just opened an office in Chicago's loop. Victor C. Carlson has rented proper- ty at 65 East Randolph street, to be used for the realty and investment business of The Victor C. Carlson or- ganization. Chiefly known for his development of centrally located Evanston proper- ties, Mr. Carlson has for some time been broadening his activities to in- clude sections of Chicago proper. Builder and owner of The Orrington, The Library Plaza, and The Carlson buildings, as well as other properties in Evanston, Mr. Carlson also shares responsibility in the remarkable devel- opment of the north suburb. While at this writing no announce- ments have been made, it is likely that news of new Carlson projects will follow the opening of his loop office. At present several sizable Evanston improvements are nearing completion. At the Randolph street office an investment and realty service will be offered. Listings of buildings in the loop and throughout Chicago will be available.
