Winter or summer, the edifice has its distinct appeal for the observer. It was a genuine inspiration that conceived this effective setting. The property on which Christ church stands has been devoted to church uses for more than half a century, it being the location of Christ church Mission established in 1869. The property was first settled in 1835 by Moses Patterson, a native of Vermont. The remains of several early pioneers were laid to rest at the site of this "Church on the Hill."
