WINNETKA TALK January 29, 1927 Real Style in 25th Anniversary Car A real style car is this new 25th Anniversary Franklin sedan which is being offered to particular motorists this season. It is designed as a unit, with every component element in harmony. General Motors Has $367,995,950 in Capital General Motors, one of the largest manufacturers in the automotive in- dustry today, enters the new year with a capitalization of $367,995950. This outstanding industry which is growing rapidly each year has 110,000 persons on its pay rolls at the present time. Stockholders number 53,000. Sixty-two companies are listed under its control, a number which will place it up around the top in the motor world. Tt is the proud boast of Gen- eral Motors that it produces one car in every three in the United States to- day. CHEVROLET IS GROWING The Chervolet is continuing its re- markably left off before the holidays, and with increased facilities, promises to make 1927 its greatest selling year. HRYSLER CAUSES SENSATION One of the sensations of the New York show was the first public display of Chrysler's new "Imperial 80" model in a five passenger standard sedan. Cadillac Branch in Evanston Employs 63 Persons One of the north shore's finest auto- moble sales rooms and service stations is operated by the Cadillac Motor car company at Ridge avenue and Lyons street, Evanston. The plant, which has a floor space of 30,000 feet, was constructed at a cost of $195,000. Sixty-three persons, many of whom have been with the company over ten years, are employed in the new build- ing. The Cadillac company was the originator of flat-rate labor operations and the originator of the standard parts prices. This sales room of the Cadillac com- pany is one of the outstanding auto- mobile show rooms on the north shore and is another indication of the growth and stability of the motor industry in this vicinity. New York Has Most Cars; California, Second New York state has more automo- biles than any other state in the coun- try. There are 1,505,597 cars in New York state. California is second with 1,459,570; Pennsylvania third with 1,- 324762; Ohio fourth wih 1,315,000; and Illinois fifth with 1,218,036. Nevada has the fewest with 20,527. Delaware has next to the smallest number with 40,025. AMERICA HAS 22,342,457 CARS Motor vehicles now in use in the United States number approximately 22,342/457. Registrations of passenger and commercial cars last year showed a gain of 2,254,000 or 11.2 per cent over 1925. There were 19,465,676 passenger cars registered in the country which is a gain of 10.3 per cent over 1925.
