Winn. 857 FRIENDS FETE ADAMS Postal Associates Present Retiring Postmaster With Leather Traveling Bag as Token of Their Esteem Saturday evening, February 5, at a | social meeting of the clerks and car- riers of the Winnetka post office, held [at the residence of Martin S. Thorsen, | 1031 Spruce street, Elmer E. Adams; who has just retired from long years of service in the railway mail service and as postmaster of Winnetka, was presented a fine leather traveling bag. The gift, from the Winnetka post office employes to their former chief, is a token of the esteem in which Mr. Adams is held by them. It was pre- sented by Walter Lips, secretary of the Carriers' association, who also told Mr. Adams that as he traveled on through life, it is the desire of the donors of the gift that it might al- ways serve to remind him of the true friendship which has existed so long between them. Mr. Lips also pledged the loyal support of the employes to Mr. Adams' Joseph C. Braun. Mr. Adams, in accepting the token, replied that the greatest regret he had in retiring from the service, is the loss he sustains in being deprived of the daily association with his office associates who have made his work so pleasant. He assured them that what- ever success he had achieved in the handling of the post office affairs here, he credited to the loyal Support of the employes.
