On February 8, Miss Lusk took first honors in the fancy diving event in a meet of the senior girls at New Trier High school. She came right back to annex second place in the plunge. A week later Miss Lusk captured first place in the fancy diving event of an inter-class meet at the high school. Those who have been watch- ing this young woman's progress as a swimmer predict she will soon be ready for real championship compe- tition. Each precinct had its place at the luncheon tables and each chairman greeted her members. Mrs. I. S. Rothschild's pre- cinct had the highest percentage of members present, so each of her mem- bers was awarded a carnation, Mrs. Rothschild was presented with an oil painting of still life by Mrs. John Ven- nem. It was discovered after the meeting that Mrs. H. I. Shaw's pre- cinct tied with Mrs. Francis A. Lack- ner's precinct and thus shares the sec- ond honors. Mrs. John N. VanderVries turned the meeting over to Mrs. G. T. Williams, chairman of the social hygiene com- mittee, who introduced Mrs. Charles Butler. Mrs. Butler presented a very interesting short talk on the "Wom- an's Reformatory." Dr. Ralph E. Cobb was then introduced as the speaker of the day. As coming under the social hygiene committee's field, Dr. Cobb spoke on "Venereal Diseases." This was chiefly a statistical report in which Dr. Cobb illustrated how this problem is being brought to the attention of the public and is treated. Dr. Cobb expressed the belief that women, mothers, should instruct children in sex matters. North Shore Glee Club to Hold Masquerade Ball The North Shore Glee club this week announced a Masquerade dance to be held in the gymnasium of Win- netka Community House, Thursday evening, February 24. The same committee that sponsored the club's last dance at the Winnetka Woman's club has been retained to care for this affair, it is stated. Jack Schultz is chairman and has invited everyone to attend in costume, if pos- sible, in order to make the mas- querade a success. Two well known orchestras, the Black Cat Serenaders and The Skylarks, will furnish the music. It may be of interest to know that the club has increased its membership by seven since January of this year. CIRCLE PLANS BRIDGE The Hawthorn Lane circle will en- tertain its members and their friends at a bridge party at 2 o'clock, Monday, February 21, in the Camp Fire room of Community House..
