Stone of Wilmette, with offices at 1177 Wilmette avenue, attended the nineteenth annual con- vention of the Illinois state Society of Optometrists held in the La Salle ho- tel, Chicago, February 13-14-15. Prac- tically every state of the Middle West was represented. The convention opened with a most complete collection of the most advanced type of instru- ments used by the optometrist. Demonstrations of the method of, straightening crossed eyes without an operation, also the examination of eyes without the use of the usual reading charts were among the newest developments of Optometry. Ali Baba to Come to Life in Tony Sarg Marionettes Evanston and north shore youngsters --and grown-ups, too--who were dis- appointed at not being able to see the Tony Sarg marionettes on the occasion of their recent visit, will have one more opportunity on Washington's birthday, February 22, when the little wooden- headed actors will present their puppet version of "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" on a miniature stage at the Goodman theater, adjacent to the Art Institute, in three performances, morn- ing, afternoon and evening. The popular Arabian Nights fantasy lends itself exceptionally well to marionette interpretation, and the colorful oriental setting, the special | lighting effects and music combine to make this production the most elabo- | rate that Mr. Sarg ever has attempted. The cast will include Ali Baba in person; his faithful donkeys, Abou and Mumu; Cassim the wicked; Danhasch, leader of the Forty Thieves; Ahib, his fiery steed; the sultan of the Indies and his trick elephant, and Morgiana, the beautiful slave girl. School of Elections Attracts Local Women The School for judges and clerks of election held by Judge Edmund Jar- ecki last fall was so helpful that be- cause of many requests from those who attended, another school was held in the election commissioners' office at the City hall, Chicago, Wed- nesday and Thursday of this week. The personal instruction given was better than printed matter, ;it was said. The school was not only for judges, clerks, and watchers but for all others interested. The local League of Women Voters was interested in the instruction.
