Chicago North Shore and Milwaukee Railroad Company WINNETKA PASSENGER STATION Baggage Checked Veterans Face Big Loss in Lapses of Insurance Policies Unless veterans heed the warnings of the United States Veterans' bureau and the Red Cross, insurance in the amount of thirty billions of dollars will be lost to the world war veterans for- ever. This is the amount of policies which have lapsed at the present time. The last day for conversion is July 2. There will be no further extension of the time limit, it is stated. More than 4,000,000 persons are af- fected by the closing date, as consid- erably more than that number hold policies which have not yet been con- verted. A bulletin issued by the Veterans' bureau emphasizes the importance of converting the policies immediately, de- claring that after July 2, "all those who have failed or neglected to secure converted insurance have lost for all time one of the greatest privileges ever offered to its defenders by a grateful nation." The bulletin explains that there are seven forms or plans of government converted insurance. They are: Or- dinary Life, Twenty Pay Life, Thirty Pay Life, Twenty Year Endowment, Thirty Year Endowment, Endowment at the age 62, and Five Year Conver- tible Term. All of the 3,500 Red Cross chapters in the United States are pre- pared to explain the relative advan- tages of the various types, and to assist veterans with the technical work of converting their policies. The Chicago Chapter of the Red Cross is co-operating with the Veter- ans' bureau and the American Legion in urging all ex-service men to rein- state their insurance before the closing date. Twenty-six high schools won points in the track and field games and ten broke into the scoring column in the swimming meet. Other schools which made good showings in the contests were Elm- wood, Ill.; Northwestern and Northern of Detroit; Tilden of Chicago; Urbana, I11.; University high, Towa City; Cham- paign, Ill; Elkart, Ind.; and Rockford, 111. Indications point to a much larger entry list this year and preparations are being made to house over 1,000 prep school athletes.
