Life's" Orange and Grapefruit Grove, Davenport, Florida The Diary I Feb. 7. Heavy dew on grass and flowers look like myriads of diamonds in bright sunshine. Mrs. Life and self spent much of morning studying shrubs and palms on lawn. A reg- ular course in botany. Attended pro- amateur tournament on Holly Hill links in afternoon. About forty of best golfers in pro and amateur class competed. Treated to some fine golf playing. George Christ, the pro here won individual low ball over the whole field. This is weekly event in Polk County. Much interest shown by players. Feb. 2. Put in order for weather and got just what Feb. 4. Another ideal day. Ate hearty breakfast. I wanted. It cannot be beat. Nature is Made up foursome on links. Mastered that putting on her new coat of green. Every- fourth hole at last. Parred it today. Feel where Spring is being heralded. It's a good about it. Life and other guests under electric lights. Great sport. Feb. 5. Surprised to meet an old friend from Ev- anston who arrived here last evening. Had long chat. Says that he knows of num- s eh Sh ber of Chicago people coming here this Feb. 8. Awakened by mocking bird singing near my month. Think we ought to have Chicago window. Must be getting sentimental. Bowling becoming popular sport. En- joyed smoke after supper on veranda. Finished evening with bridge. : Feb. 6. After breakfast left with party of friends for trip down Ridge. Fine paved highways all the way. Continuous grove country. Wonderful hills and many lakes. Again visited Mountain Lake Park enroute. Rode to top of Iron Mountain, said to be high- est point in Florida. All sections along Ridge look prosperous. Groves in fine condition. Stopped at Highland Park, an- other exclusive winter colony.
