Through Beware, When You Buy Roses, Is the Warning Sounded Mrs. John Lind, of 315 Richmond road, a member of the Kenilworth Garden club and the Garden Club of America, in a communication to WiL- METTE LIFE, sounds a timely warning to north shore garden owners to beware of what she terms "bogus rose sales- men," whom she says reap a veritable harvest at this time of the year. Mrs. Lind declares that last year un- scrupulous firms victimised Kenilworth residents out of $1,700 and Winnetka residents out of $3,300 by selling them dried up, broken roses. Mrs. Lind says the practice of sell- ing this class of stock has been taken up with J. Horace McFarland, of the American Rose society, and she says he will be glad to receive any data pertaining to irresponsible dealers that anyone can send him, that the matter may be further investigated and this practice stopped. The Current Events club will meet with Mrs. Fred Gillette Friday, March 4, at 2:30 o'clock at the Monterey ho- tel, 4300 Clarendon avenue. Luncheon at the hotel will precede the meeting.
