March 26, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Eminent Authority Speaks on Chinese Situation Sunday Dr. Henry W. Luce, vice president of Peking university, will speak upon the subject, "What Shall We Think of China?" in the neighborhood room of Community House Sunday morn- ing, March 27, at 9:30. The address furnishes an opportunity for all who are interested in the United States' relationship with the nations of the Pacific, to hear the opinions of an au- thority coming directly from the orient. Dr. Luce has spent practically all of his life in the development of higher education in China and for two years acted as secretary of the Chinese Edu- cational association and has had excep- tional opportunities to study the prob- lem and to observe the changing na- tional situation in all of the main sec- tions of China. In addition, his fre- quent trips to and from the United States during this period, sometimes crossing Siberia, Russia and Japan, have enabled him to observe and study the important and even serious implications in the international rela- tionships centering on the Pacific. Dr. Luce speaks under the auspices of the Men's class of the Congrega- tional church and a cordial invitation has been extended to both men and women to attend. Mrs. J. K. Young Men's Class Makes Plans for Baseball Game The Young Men's class of the Win- netka Congregational church brought a lively close to its bowling season | last night, in the Winnetka Woman's | club alleys. The next athletic event for the class will be a ball game, as soon as the weather permits. Tomor- row morning the class will meet with the other adult classes at 9:30, in the Neighborhood room, to hear Henry W. Luce talk about the Chinese situation, as announced elsewhere in this issue of WINNETKA TALK. Sunday Evening Club Hears "Phantom Lover" The Sunday Evening Club reports a most successful meeting on March 20 when Mr. Stevenson of "Line" fame read from his own poems. Next Sunday, March 27, the club will meet at the Community House as usual and another very interesting program will be given.
