Their negative team, consisting of Seymour Burge, Karl Yost, and Rollin Simmons, jour- neved to Proviso, where they were de- feated by a two to one decision. Ac- | companying the team were Coach | Macl.ean and Manager Magnus. The affirmative team, Henry Heineman, Victor Dauber, and Frank Gilchrist, was given a unanimous decision against it. After the debate, the Pro- viso visitors were entertained by the Girls' Debating Club. After refresh- ments of ice cream and cake were served, a dance was held in the audi- torium. Although both teams were defeated, they showed remarkable sportsman- ship and put up a good fight. New Trier has scheduled a debate with Morton for May 13 on the Prohi- ! bition question. All 'Round Senior Is Ruth Hinchliff Not many seniors graduate from New Trier having won as many dis- tinctions as has Ruth Hinchliff, one of the New Trier T.N.T. members. She is known by almost every member of New Trier as one of the most | popular members of her class. Having graduated from the Wil- mette grammar school Ruth entered New Trier as a freshman just as green as any other. She was immedi- ately elected to Student Council for Miss Babcock's room and later chosen by her class as vice-president. That Christmas as in the next three years she took part in the Christmas cantata. Ruth has always distinguished her- self in the musical line by being an active member of the Music and Glee Clubs in her third and fourth years. When she was a junior she was a member of the cast of "The Chimes of Normandy," and also the Music Festival. Perhaps her most important achieve- ments were those of: first, a member of the Charity committee of the Girls' Club in her sophomore year and as chairman of the financial committee { this year. Last year Ruth was elected to T.N. T., one of the highest honors at New | Trier, and this year she received hon- orable mention for the Honor Society. Fach year from her freshman on, Ruth has made Soccer, Basketball, and Baseball teams, and has always shown her good sportmanship by being her own cheerful self whether her team won or lost. Mrs. S.
