Sunday Movies Are Scheduled in "No-Man's Land." Does the North Shore Want Apartment Houses in "No Man's Land?" The spokesman of the North Shore syndicate that has built the theatre openly stated to Wilmette and Kenilworth officials in an attempted "get-together" meeting looking toward "'peaceful" annexation, that they intend to build apartment houses adjacent to their theatre. They, too, oppose vehemently the passage of House Bill 51. If they really mean to become the high-class Clubs they claim, let them put themselves under Wilmette jurisdiction and guar- antee it. Present members should write their management and insist on this. Those solicited for membership should demand this guarantee. Introduced by our estimable Representative, Howard P. Castle, at the request of the Citizens Committee, it authorizes the annexation of "No-Man's Land" to Wilmette by ordinance. It is the hope and safeguard of the North Shore. It will con- fiscate nothing. The theatre will be allowed to run week days and the Clubs will be able to operate as the high-class organi- zations they claim to be. But Wilmette will police, will super- vise and will regulate and restrict future "No-Man's Land" developments for their benefit as well as the community's. House Bill 51 will not raise taxes but will rather bring addi- tional tax revenue from a source that now avoids taxation.
