WINNETKA TALK April 23, 1927 WHEN THE OWNERS of the TEATRO DEL LAGO SELECTED REYNOLDS Heating and Ventilating EQUIPMENT FOR THEIR THEATRE THEY PURCHASED COMFORT ASSURANCE for Their PATRONS 118"W. OHIO ST. B.F.REYNOLDS & CO. ciicrco; ui REYNOLDS MANUFACTURES, ENGINEERS AND INSTALLS ITS OWN EQUIPMENT Architect Edwin H. Clark Edwin H. Clark of Winnetka, de- signer of the Winnetka Village hall and other notable structures on the north: shore and in Chicago, was the architect for Teatro del Lago and the group of commercial structures soon to be opened in "No Man's Land." Mr. Clark has gained an enviable reputa- tion in his field and in this latest ven- ture has achieved a model for the future development of that territory. "Afraid to Love," starring Florence Vidor, will be the opening feature pro- duction at the Teatro del Lago. Clive Brook is the leading man. NEW THEATER MODEL OF MODERN CONSTRUCTION H. F. Friestedt Company, Gen- eral Contractor on Structure, Has Wide Reputation In engineering, Teatro del Lago em- bodies all of the latest principles in building construction. It is built around a frame work of structural steel, of which the roof trusses alone weigh almost 200 tons. The outside wall is composed of hard-burned bearing tile covered with a veneer of common brick. Fifty thousand pieces of tile and over 200,000 tons of brick were used in the wall construction. The entire exterior is covered with stucco and the building is also fitted with brilliantly colored terra cotta copings and cornices. The interior is finished with sand surface plaster. The balcony over the projection room and offices is of reinforced con- crete, finished in the same manner as the foyer. The building material throughout is of the most permanent character obtainable; the extreme weather con- ditions in this locality compelling the contractors to use slightly different types of 'material than that outlined in buildings of a corresponding type in California. The construction of the new theater was under the supervision of the H. F. Friestedt company, general con- tractors with offices in the Tribune tower, Chicago. The Friestedt company lists among its notable building projects the new Winnetka Village hall, the buildings of the North Shore Country Day school, the Chicago American League baseball park, and many large plants.
