Some of the sedate fathers who have had it in the {back of their minds to ask "What is | this Tri-Ship club, anyway?" were well impressed by the way the Boys' club carried on its affair. Although most men act sophisticated the greater part of the time, (excepting, of course, when they are playing golf), another exception was made in this case. The | fathers joined in the fun with all the [ boyish enthusiasm they ever had. During dinner the renowned Glee club, directed by Mrs. Cotton and accompanied by Miss Mickey, shone forth in all its glory; music during the dinner hour being consid- ered "rawtha ritzy." The humorous side of the program was far from neglected. George Cogs- well and Arthur Johnstone gave a stunt which they entitled "With Apol- jogies to Sam 'n Henry." Clever, and how! Norman Hess, one of the famous | prodigies, then gave the fathers some- | thing in the way of piano music. Gordy Cumberland and Dan Sny- { dacker put on the fun provoking act that was given in the Senior assembly, and Harold Spinney shook a wicked hoof when he clogged so the audience couldn't help but get a "kick" out of the program. Perhaps a few of the gentle readers | have heard the saying, "It's nice to get up in thé morning, but it's nicer o lie in 'bed." Well, in a way this may be applied to the boxing match between "Hick" Martin and Stan Sherman. Although it must have been Boys' a great deal of fun in the ring for the boys, nevertheless it is certain that the fathers would have preferred to take their chances with an army mule. Wal- lop-wallop-crash-bang-fuieeeee !!!! And after the smoke cleared away, jall souls were brought to peaceful rest again by the consoling violin selec- tions played by Robert Brown. PRESENT GOLDSMITH DRAMA "She Stoops to Conquer," by Oliver Goldsmith, was presented at the North Shore Country Day school, on April 14, 15 and 18, by the tenth grade En- glish classes. The parts of the play were divided among all the members of the class. BENEFIT BRIDGE The board of directors of the Ele- mentary and Home Education associa- tion of the alumnae of Chicago Teach- ers college and the mothers of the Children's school are sponsors for a large card party to be given at the Belden-Stratford hotel on the after- noon of Tuesday, May 3. In addition to bridge, there will be tables for five hundred and mah jongg. The proceeds of the affair will be for the benefit of the association, of which the college and the school are the chief activities. Mrs. Geerge Allen Mason of Highland Park, who is pres- ident of the Woman's auxiliary of the Diocese of Chicago, will be the guest of honor and will give some very in- teresting and new ideas concerning the United Thank Offering. | 'Winnetka Baseball Team Loses Game to Evanston Team The Winnetka Baseball Team slid to a more or less wet and muddy de- feat last Sunday at the Playfield Park when the Washington Park Blues of Ev anston, won by a score of 13 to 11. The Winnetkans last inning rally fell just two runs short of that piled up by the visitors. Knox pitched well for the lo- cals for five innings--allowing but four runs to nick the pan. When Kreger attempted to take up the burden in the sixth everything seemed to go wrong, and before the third out was made the visitors had piled up seven runs. A large crowd was at hand for the opening day performance, and the boys thank the loyal rooters for coming out in such inclement weather, Next Sunday the Western Union nine of Chicago will be the foe for the Win- netka bat wielders. Everyone be on hand for the first real session of the year. Residents Urge Defering of Sunset Road Extension An informal public hearing was held by the street, drainage and forest committee of the Winnetka village council, Tuesday evening, on the pro- posed Sunset road extension from Church road to Center street. A large number of property owners attended, the general sentiment of the meeting being that the continuation of this street should be deferred until some future time. Mr. and Mrs. W. J.
