Odhner Will Be This Afternoon The funeral of H. E. Odhner, of 1150 Tower road, Winnetka, who was killed by a North Western passenger train at the Woodland avenue cross- ing in Glencoe, Wednesday morning, will be conducted from the Parish House of Christ church, on Oak street, this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial will be at Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Odhner was 46 years of age. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Odhner and one daughter, Miss Alice. A brother, John and a sister, Mrs. Carl Anderson, also reside in Winnetka, and two brothers and two sisters and his father, reside in Sweden. He had been a resident here for 15 years, Mr. Odhner was a member of the Inde- pendent Order of Odd Fellows. The coroner's inquest into the death of Mr. Odhner was held at Schaefer Brothers' undertaking establishment, 1573 Maple avenue, Evanston, Wednes- day afternoon at 2 o'clock. The jury, in its finding, recommended that the railroad company place gates and a gateman at the Woodland avenue crossing. Two Cars Crash at Corner of Elm and Maple Avenues Two automobiles, one driven by Mrs. E. W. Rosenheim, of 1046 Vine street and the other by Mrs. S. O. Aspenwall, of 1195 Tower road, crashed at Elm street and Maple ave- nue Wednesday afternoon, the impact diverting both cars into the parkway. Mrs. Rosenheim was driving east on Elm street and hit the other car which was going south on Maple. Neither of the drivers was injured. Sergeant Harry Enault and Motorcycle Officer E. Schubert reported the accident. Infant Welfare Groups Sponsor Week for Babes Parents of all classes, rich and poor alike, will be reminded of the impor- tance of giving the health of their children careful attention during the early years in the observance of "Baby Week," which opens Sunday, May 1. For the purpose of giving all classes during this week the benefit of learn- ing what the Infant Welfare Society's methods are, the Society will open all of its stations to the public during the week. Demonstrations will be held at 23 stations in Chicago. 'The Winnetka branch of the so- ciety supports the Chicago Commons Station, at 955 Grand avenue. Con- ferences will be held there on Monday and Thursday afternoons at 1:30 o'clock and Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The Mary Crane station, 820 Gilpin place, supported by the Glencoe branch, will sponsor conferences Tues- day and Friday afternoons at 1 o'clock. CHESS CLUB MATCH Under the faculty supervision of Mr. Snyder, the New Trier Chess Club is doing a very unique thing at the pres- ent time. Six boys from the school are playing six boys from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The boys here first make a move, sending it to the Canadian boys, and then the Canadian boys do the same thing in return. Morton Mergenthemn has charge of the correspondence at New Trier. The Club expects that the match will be finished some time in May.
