M. Peter- son, which will be presented to the Village council at its next meeting. Many Cars Recovered "The value: of stolen property re- covered was mostly in automobiles re- covered by this department. It totals $10,087.10 this year, as compared to $9,- 489.25 in the previous year, or an in- crease of $597.85. "The accidents are numbering up fast, especially those involving automo- biles, which shows an extremely rapid increase of 59 over the previous year. Two of these were fatalities, while there were none last year. There were twelve deaths caused by accidents, as compared to six during the previous year. At grade crossings which have always been our fatal places for acci- dents, there were two deaths. "Within our municipality, three auto- mobiles were stolen, and all of them were recovered. This department re- covered twelve cars all told, nine of them being cars stolen from other cities. "During the year the people have been more careful in locking up their store buildings and private residences, with a decrease shown in the number of homes and business places found open. "Disturbances also decreased during the year. "I want to call your attention to the beacon signal light with which we have been provided. The force, at all times of the night, is scattered throughout the village on individual posts, and quite often it is necessary to com- municate with and congregate the Hello!-- Surely....
