Winnetka 330 Accidental Death Verdict Returned in Schlums Inquest A verdict of accidental death was returned by a coroner's jury in an in- quest into the death of Gustav C. Schlums who was killed in an auto accident at the corner of Provident road and Elm street at about seven o'clock last Saturday evening. Joseph L. Carroll, driver of the car which col- lided with the machine in which Mr Schlums was riding and an employce of a local garage, was exonerated of all blame. The inquest was held at the Lewis Funeral parlors in Wilmette Monday. At the time of the accident Mr Schlums was riding as a passenger in the light delivery truck driven by James Sutherland and north bound on Provident. At the Elm street intersec- tion the truck collided with the west bound Carroll machine, the force of the impact hurling Schlums to the pavement. He sustained a fractured skull which resulted in almost instan- taneous death. Neither of the other occupants of the two cars were in- jured. Mr. Schlums was a retired salesman and resided with his daughter, Mrs. M. W. Kidder, at her home, 933 Cherry street. He was 64 years of age. Funeral services were held from the Lewis chapel in Wilmette, Tues- day, Rev. James Austin Richards pre- siding. A CORRECTION The Nursery School board of the Winnetka Woman's club would like 'o correct an inference that might be drawn from a contributed article that appeared in last week's issue of WinNETKA TALK. The board of educa- tion of the Winnetka Public schools 1s not sponsoring and cannot legally sponsor the Nursery school project. The board of education is granting the use of the room in the Greeley school and the services of Mr. Washburne as supervisor. The Nursery school board of the Winnetka Woman's club is sponsoring this new work in education and is raising the necessary funds.
