Becker, 1188 Asbury avenue, Hub- bard Woods, was from a recent issue of the "Christian Science Monitor." The article, which follows, is called "Marvelous White Bird," and was sub- mitted by a Massachusetts woman. "It is pleasant to see what a mes- senger of international good will Lind- bergh's airship has proved. The fact recalls some lines written by Amado Nervo, the beloved poet of Mexico, seventeen years ago, when aviation was still new. After watching an air race he wrote: Miraculous bird, colossal white bird, You realize the dream of the genera- tins! . .. At last, at last, the children of men have wings! . .. Do not stain the heavenly bird wit! warlike missions! It was born to carry cordial messages, And it sows kisses of peace among the nations. Winn. 1949 Robert Wienecke Weds Eliza Rittenhause June 23 Miss Eliza Rittenhause, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. Wayne Rittenhause of Bourbon, Ind., became the bride of Robert H. Wienecke, son of Henry C. Wienecke of Glencoe, on Thursday, June 23, at 8.30 o'clock. The Rev. Douglas. H. Cornell performed the cere mony, which was held in the Glencoe Union church. A reception followed, held at the North Shore hotel. The bride's gown of white satin was made with long sleeves and bouffant skirt. Chantilly lace trimmed the gown and formed the high crown of the veil. The veil was made full length of tulle and rose leaves and orange blossoms trimmed the cap. White sweet peas and valley lilies formed the bouquet. Miss Mildred Anderson of Ham- mond was maid of honor. She wore peach organdie made in bouffant style over peach satin, and carried a shower bouquet of peach roses. Miss Anne Edwards of Chicago, Miss Lydia Sprenger of Kenilworth, Miss Velma Schaefer of Bourbon, and Miss Ethel Arison of Evanston, attended the bride. Their organdie dresses were in rainbow colors, pink, blue, green, and orchid, made in the same - bouffant style over white satin. They carried larkspur and pink roses. Irwin R. Hazen, Jr., of Chicago, was Mr. Wienecke's best man, and the ushers were Dr. C. William Johnson and George K. Budd of Glencoe, Wal- ter Seidel of Chicago, and Donald McFadden of Peoria. The bride has just received her degree at Northwest- ern universitv. Mr. Wienecke was prominent in football at the university, serving as captain in his senior year. The members of the bridal party all attended the university, the brides- maids having been sorority sisters of the bride, who is a Chi Omega. Mr. and Mrs. Wienecke left on a motor trip through the West. They will be at home at 680 Vernon avenue on their return.
