ES Tr July 2, 1927 --_.G Lb WINNETKA TALK With Scoring High Club Champ Takes Low Gross Honors Waldo Thorsen, Sunset Ridge's champion, trampled the course of his home club Tuesday to come home winner of low gross prize for 36 holes in the fourth annual "Stampede," a rollicking, invitation event. Thorsen's score was 79-84-163. Scores were high. R. L. Williams a home clubber, grabbed the low net prize by ten strokes, his score being 92-97-189 (56) -133. James Gillies, Sunset Ridge, was second in the 36-hole low gross with 164. Other prizes were won by L. T. Ellis, IL. E. Becker, Howard Jen- kins and Charles Schwartz. The low net foursome was won by Charles Schwartz, Sunset Ridge, 101-97-(30)- 168: Frank Fulton, Indian Hill, 105- 97-(48)-154; Robert Bruce, 103-102-(48)- 157, and C. A. Chancellor, 96-97-(44)- 149. Total--598. WESTMORELAND The second annual Father and Son tournament resulted in a tie between E. A. Kalkhurst and Jack Kalkhurst and W. F. Drexmit and R. W. Drex- mit in the low gross division. For low net the winners were A. W. Lammers and Edward Lammers. In this divi- sion there was a tie for second place between W. M. Bond and Samuel Bond and W. J. Lang and Howard Lang. The Fellowship trophy competition resulted in a victory for Donald L. DeGolyer, 86-15--71. The Aberdeen Cup was won by E. A. Kalkhurst who defeated H. E. Heick, 4 and 2. In the women's open day event Miss Virginia Ingram, Sunset Ridge champion, was the winner after a playoff with Mrs. Lee Mida. Other winners were: Low net--Miss Mercedes Bush; putting-- Mrs. Charles Stewart. A field of 120 entered the women's events. BRIARGATE Briargate announces plans for their "big day" of the year. It is Braves Day to be held on July 21. There wili be many prizes and only men may trample the course that day. In the evening there will be a dinner for the members and their guests when the prizes will be awarded. = Reservations must be in by July 11. Place in Women's Tourney Mrs. A. T. Other north shore women who participated in this event were Mrs. E. Rardel, Illinois; Mrs. F. D. Coambs, Sunset Ridge, and Mrs. C. C. Kendrick, Indian Hill. The usual Fourth of July programs will be held at the various clubs over the week-end. The Rosewood circle held a picnic at Deer Grove June 21. All the mem- bers enjoyed this meeting, which was the last of the season.
