Those who have had the treat in | other seasons or earlier this season | have memories of a place unique among | summer camps in the country for city | | children--and for mothers and their | | babies. The trip to Lake Bluff from Ev- anston is a pleasant drive, and an af- ternoon may be delightfully spent in a! visit to this camp, deep in the heart of sun-flecked woodland stretches along the bluff above the blue lake, with a wide, sandy beach stretching to the blue Lake Michigan. For Under-Nourished Boys Arden Shore covers 22 acres of woodland, and accommodates 500 per- sons at a time all the summer long. One of the outstanding accomplish- ments of the camp is the aid given under-nourished boys during eight months of the year. Unable to obtain working certificates, these boys are sent by the Board of Education of Chicago to be fed and rested and employed and instructed at Arden Shore until they are ready to go back to the city in the prime of health and strength to assume their work. These boys are of the type which easily become delinquents, and without this interest and aid to their | welfare, usually land in the courts and institutions of the city and the state. Plenty of good food, fresh air, proper | ine conditions and medical care build these boys into useful, healthful | citizens, and when they are graduated | | from Arden Shore they are placed in Fa suitable for them and given aj fair opportunity to succeed. During the summer the camp also| | provides two weeks' outing for 2,000] mothers and children; for 150 young girls as camp waitresses; and for 75 little girls in the Cinderella lodge.
