July 9, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 11 Christian Science "God" was the subject of the Lesson- | Sermon in all Churches of Christ, | Scientist, Sunday, July 3. The Golden Text was from Isaiah | 43:15, "I am the Lord, your Holy One, |! the creator of Israel, your King." Among the citations which comprised | the Lesson-Sermon was the following | from the Bible: "I will love thee, O | Lord, my strength. The Lord is my | rock, and my fortress, and my de- liverer ; my God, my strength, in whom [ will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. . . For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?" (Psalms 18:1, > ol)» The Lesson-Sermon also included the following passages from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "Unless the harmony and | immortality of man are becoming more | apparent, we are not gaining the true | idea of God; and the body will re- flect what governs it, whether it be | Truth or "error, understanding or be- lief, Spirit or matter. Therefore 'ac- | quaint now thyself with Him, and be | at peace." Mrs. Virginia E. Noe Visiting Son in East Mrs. Virginia E. Noe and her daugh- | York. | ter left Wednesday for New While there, they will visit Mrs. Noe's son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Noe, on Long Island. They are ex- panding their business at 809 Oak street and will now carry a very well thought out line of children's dresses, including junior models, aside from their own made-to-order styles. They will announce the opening soon. Visions Church News as Big Thing in Journalism Rapping "Elmer Gantry," the Rev. John T. Brabner Smith of Evanston, reporting at the annual meeting of the World Service Commission of the Methodist Episcopal church, held re- cently in Chicago, said: "Some day church news and church editors will be the big thing in journal- ism. If a story on a brilliant and dirty preacher sells by thousands, how much more would a serial story of a saint of God in modern literature interest the readers of the public press. "The newspaper," he said, "is the best and surest medium of advertising and for publicity of the church be- cause it goes into practically every home regardless of race or creed. Weekly and daily newspapers are giv- ing the churches and church news much space. Less of sensationalism and more constructive news is the de- mand of city and country journalism. The churches must provide it in ac- ceptable style and form." Hearthstone Tea Room Opens in New Location Miss Margaret Fessler and Miss Florence Reed have opened a new Hearthstone Tea room at 920 Linden avenue, just a half-block south of where the old Hearthstone Tea shop was located.
