v4 -- RE i -- July 23, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 39 Shore Theaters News ALWAYS * COOL, ONLY ICE REFRIGERATING PLANT ON THE NORTH SHORE A Week of Laughs Listed on Teatro del Lago Program Starting with "Simple Sis" and ending with "McFadden's Flats," next week's program at Teatro del Lago will be one evening of laughs right after another. Three of the season's most recent releases -- "Colleen," "Rough House Rosie" and "McFad- den's Flats"--are listed and are aug- mented by "Simple Sis" and "Married Alive." The first three mentioned are all comedies of the first order and the latter two, while not quite of the same calibre, are nevertheless good films. On Saturday "Simple Sis" will be presented. This picture features Lou- ise Fazenda and Clyde Cook, who prove to be one of the best of comedy teams. The story has to do with a wistful laundry "worker, played by Miss Fazenda, who longs for boy friends such as her prettier work- mates have. "Colleen" is to be featured on Sun- day and stars Madge Bellamy and Charles Morton. It is Irish to the ex- treme; Irish in setting; Irish in cast- ing--even to two Irish horses; and Irish in humor, action and fights. It is excellently directed and played and is undoubtedly one of the season's best pictures. On Monday Teatro del Lago pre- sents Clara Bow's latest success, "Roughhouse Rosie." This is a pic- ture with joy radiating throughout. In the role of Rosie O'Reilly, the be- witching belle of Tenth Avenue, the diminutive Clara unfurls some new folds in the banner of fame that spread for her when "It" was given to the world. On Wednesday, Teatro del Lago presents Mat Moore in the role of a shy professor who advocates polygamy, and Lou Tellegen, in the part of the likeable "bluebeard" who has four wives, one of whom is the delectable Margaret Livingston, are the principle actors in this picture, "Married Alive." With its surprising humor and whim- sical eposides, it affords amusement throughout the story. On Thursday and Friday "McFad- den's Flats" is to be shown. This ser- ious old stage comedy has been given a new dress, and a new lease on life, through the efforts of Charlie Murray and Chester Conklin. Murray, as the hod carrying Irishman is irresistable, and Conklin, as a Scotch barber proves one of the greatest comedians of the screen. "Captain Salvation" to Be at Village Wednesday Among the really great pictures that have been presented to the public this vear is to be listed "Captain Salva- tion." The title role is played by Lars Hansen, the Swedish actor who made his screen debut as a minister with Lillian Gish in the "Scarlet Letter." In "Captain Salvation," Mr. Hansen plays the part of a divinity student who, disappointed in love, takes to the sea, forgetting his faith and be- coming the aid of the most feared skipper of the Nova Scotia coast. His regeneration forms a dramatic climax to a story of adventure, danger, hard- ship and the eternal battle of man against the sea. "Captain Salvation" will be presented at the Village the- atre on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. On Monday and Tuesday, one of the incomparable Raymond Griffith "silk hat" comedies will be featured--""Time to Love." There are three main in- gredients for the film: one spirit, three duels, and four captive balloons; all of which combine to make one of the funniest comedies shown in the last few weeks. Griffith is supported by Vera Voronia, a Russian actress who makes her screen debut in this film. For the last two days of the week, Manager J. B. Kopple has secured Ken Maynard's "The Devil's Saddle," which deals with the invasion of the white settlers 'into Indian territory and the resultant wars and adventures. Ken crowds most of his circus riding feats into the picture and is co-starred with Kathleen Collins. It will be re- membered that Ken Maynard was a feature attraction with the Ringling Brothers' Circus for a number of years. THE NORSHORE Florence Vidor in her latest photo offering, "The World at Her Feet," comes to the Norshore theater starting Sunday. This is the story of a woman who im- agined that she wanted the adoration of her business associates more than she did her husband. What happened when she discovered that she could not have both is solved thoroughly in keeping with the most modern ideas.
