Warner of Hubbard Woods, sailed Thursday for a year's tour of the con- tinent. Formerly Masonic Temple State and Randolph Streets Chicago Make Plans for Great Legion Summer Festival | Extensive preparations are being | made for the third annual Summer | Festival, to be held under the auspices of the. American Legion at Waukegan, Ill, September 2-5, inclusive. This | event has proved increasingly popular since its inception, and large numbers are expected to be on hand for the 1927 program. The Chicago, North Shore & Mil- waukee railroad is co-operating in making arrangements to handle the crowds. = Direct service to Waukegan from Chicago Loop and downtown Milwaukee is furnished by the rail- road. Several notables are scheduled to visit Waukegan and take part in the festivities. Among those who have signified their intentions of being present are Vice-President Charles G. Dawes, United States Senator Charles S. Deneen and Colonel A. V. Smith, state's attorney for Lake county, who will be marshal of the big patriotic | parade opening the program on the | evening of September 2. Dr. McFayden to Address Convocation at Garrett Convocation for the summer quarter graduates at Garrett Biblical institute is set for August 31 when Dr. John Edgar McFayden will address the young students. Fourteen men will receive their degrees at the close of the summer quarter. Dr. McFadyen is spending a year's leave of absence in America from the Free church college, Glasgow, Scotland, where he is professor of Hebrew. During the summer he has been teach- ing in the Divinity school at the Uni- versity of Chicago. He has been heard in Evanston several times this summer from the pulpit of the First Baptist church. The actual date of the closing of the summer session is August 31. One hundred seventy-five have been en- rolled during this quarter. The Hickville Rube band has been engaged to play at the Illinois State Fair, and will afford the visitors an abundance of entertainment and amusement. They will range around the grounds and buildings dispensing mirth and music where occasion sug- gests. Evcoything is in readiness for the event. The Pow-Wow is the big invitation affair Wilmette awaiting their annual Pow-Wow, which always attracts a husky tribe of golfers. The Pow-Wow is a day of golf, play both morning and afternoon with a swell luncheon in between ses- sions on the course. But the day doesn't begin to end with the final golf shot. There's a knockout of a dinner--Mrs. Peterson's best--to stow away and then & big evening of en- tertainment. The prizes are an incentive for any golfer to do his stuff. There are at- tractive trophies for first and second low net and low gross at 36 holes; prizes for first and second low net 18 holes morning and afternoon and for first and second low gross morning and afternoon. Special foursome prizes also will be handed out. One of the features of the Illinois State Fair, August 20-27, that is most helpful to cattle feeders, is the ex- hibit of all kinds of feeder cattle, pre- sented by the livestock exchange. A visit to this exhibit gives a feeder a clear understanding of just what is meant by all the terms used in con- nection with various types of beef cattle. Revisions in the Illinois State Fair premium list will attract an even greater number of high class exhibit- ors to Springfield, August 20-27.
