Hamm, Through Hill and Stone The announcement of the sale of the Sears property located between Melrose and Winnetka avenues, Win- netka, at a consideration reported to be well over $100,000 recently caused considerable comment among the vari- ous circles interested in real estate transactions. The property involved was formerly owned by the Sears estate and is one2 of the choice pieces of vacant on the North Shore. It was purchased by Edward F. Hamm of 517 Sheridan road, Kenilworth, through Hill and Stone, E. Hazelet of that brokerage representing both parties. C. I. Penoyer of the same company was the salesman in another transac- tion involving the purchase of the southeast corner of Sheridan road and Forest avenue, Wilmette, by John P. Harris, a chemical engineer of Chi- cago, from Nathan Elson, the former owner. Mr. Elson and family will move into a new home at the south- east corner of Washington avenue and Sheridan road about September 15. Hill and Stone also report the sale of the Joseph Davis property at 727 Ashland avenue to W. W. Gilgis of Evanston, who will take possession October 1, providing extensive altera- tions which are being made are com- pleted at that time. Illinois cities spend an average of per capita per annum for high- ways. § Permits Increase Kenilworth Records by $110,000 in July Eight building permits were issued in Kenilworth during the month of July, six of which were for new resi- dences costing $110,000. The other two were for private garages, costing $650. Permits for residences were issued to John Sinding, for a solid brick residence and attached garage at 627 Warwick road, costing $20,000. To William Armstrong, for a two story brick veneer residence and de- tached two-car garage at 705 Roger avenue, costing $11,000. To C. Manchester, for a two story brick veneer residence at 555 Brier street, costing $10,000. To A. H. Peycke, for a two story brick veneer residence and attached two-car garage at 240 Raleigh road, costing $25,000. To Ernest Grawin, for a two story brick and stucco residence and at- tached two-car garage at 643 Kenil- worth avenue, costing $12,000. To Michael Mannebach, for a two story brick veneer residence and at- tached garage at 140 Robsart road, costing $32,000. W. G. Stacey Announces Sale of Wilmette Home W. G.
