WINNETKA TALK August 13, 1927 VACATIONING IN MICHIGAN Phillip Jewell, of the Quinlan & Ty- son Winnetka office, is enjoying a three weeks' yacht trip to northern Michigan points. He left a week ago. Miss Betty Waterbury of Waterloo, Iowa, who has been a guest of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Howe of Kenilworth avenue, left Sunday evening to return home. Her father, Dr. C. A. Waterbury, will be the guest of the Howes for another week, when he will go on to New York. VISITS IN CALIFORNIA Elmer E. Jackson, Kenilworth vil- lage attorney, is spending this month vacationing in Palos Verdes, Cal, where he is visiting with George O. Schoolcraft. Several members of the Kenilworth Neighbors and Kenilworth Garden club attended the flower show given by the Barrington Garden club at Bar- rington, Ill, last Tuesday and Wed- nesday. As several of the Kenilworth members had contributed to the dis- play, the visit was most interesting. The Bently G. McCloud family of Kenilworth are vacationing in different parts of the country this summer, The two boys are at camp. the little girl went back to Los Angeles with her grandmother and grandfather, and Mr. and Mrs. McCloud are touring in the East. RET Northern Wisconsin has attracted the Rev. Leland Hobart Danforth and Mrs. Danforth as a vacation ground. SKEETER FOES ORGANIZE Representatives of all north shore communities met in the office of John F. Hahn, Evanston, Monday night and took steps towards the formation of the North Shore Mosquito Abate- ment district. William Edwards of Glencoe was appointed chairman; James Williams, secretary, and Mr. Hahn, treasurer. Arthur Stringer, formerly connected with the Gorgas Memorial institute, was appointed edu- cational director. Fach officer was empowered to ap- point twelve directors who will make up the governing body. Need of an educational movement throughout the north shore to point out the damage to property values wrought by the mosquitoes was stressed at the meet- ing. Thomas J. Sullivan, of the Sanitary district, assured those present that that body would cooperate in any movement to rid the territory of the summer pests. AT THE VARSITY Lewis Stone in "The Prince of Headwaiters" will be presented by the Varsity theater Monday. Mr. Stone part of Pierre, the head- waiter of the "Ritz" with memories that are not pleasant to recall-- through no fault of his own. Pierre plays an important part in saving his son, who does not know him, from the clutches of a little blonde gold digger and the story ends happily for all but Pierre who returns to his loneliness. It is one good picture. plays the Mr. and Mrs. Frank Livingston of 1020 Pine street, and their son, Hoyt, left Tuesday to make a tour through the East. They will be gone for two weeks.
