August 20, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Lindy Enjoys Spell of Peace and Quiet at John Scott Home Col. Charles A. Lindbergh, who flew to Chicago Saturday, where he received new acclaim as aviation's ace, sought the peace and quiet of the north shore: Sunday for much-needed rest and re- laxation from the strain which comes from being constantly in the public eye. He was a guest at the home of John Scott, on Sheridan road, Glencée, an honor which the most northern village | in New Trier is compelled to share with her sister village, Winnetka, for the reason that the dividing line between Glencoe and Winnetka passes through the Scott estate. The visit here was planned to be a most quiet affair, Lindy's coming be- ing without previous announcement, but his presence soon became known | and the wisdom of the selection of the Scott residence as the haven of rest| was demonstrated when the crowds be- | gan to gather and clamor for admission | to see America's best known young | man. They encountered Chief of Police Ja- | cob Rudolph and a squad of his picked | men from Glencoe and also Chief of | Police W .M. Peterson with a force of | his bravest braves from Winnetka. | "In union there is police departments of the two villages kept the crowd at bay while Col. Lind- bergh enjoyed a quiet but happy day with the Scott family and their guests. Later, with an escort of police head- ed by Chief Peterson Col. Lindbergh visited the home of Edwin P. Price, 920 Hill road, Winnetka, from whence, late in the evening he slipped back to his hotel in Chicago and the following morning flew away to Springfield.
