Adams, former Winnetka postmaster and horshoe pitching champion of the village, drove 250 miles last week to win third place in the great barnyard golf events at the annual county fair at Ontario, Wis. He was accompanied by Miss Mar- jorie Smith, of 879 Oak street, Win- netka, They went up to visit J. D. Robinson and family, former residents of Winnetka, Mr. Robinson now being in the hardware business there. He also owns and operates the only mo- tion picture show in that village. Mr. Adams claims he gave the winner in the horseshoe pitching match a close rub for first place, and ascribes his defeat to the fact that he is ac- customed to pitching on a clay court, whereas the court at the fair grounds was an ordinary dusty, dirt court, somewhat of a handicap, in his case.
