August 27, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 13 250 ATTEND SCHOOL Chamber of Commerce Secretaries From All Over Country Meet for Two Weeks' Session Two hundred and fifty commercial secretaries are in the midst of a two weeks' course, the seventh annual ses- sion of the National School for Com- mercial Secretaries which opened Monday at Northwestern university During this week they were students of technical courses which include effec tive speaking, effective expression in print and accurate letter writing; and next week they will turn to the practical side of secretarial work. At the end of this year's course a number of the secretaries who have attended the school for three years will be graduated. This session has drawn secretaries from all over the United States, Canada and Cuba. To carry on the extra-curricular ac- tivities, the student body has organized itself and elected at the beginning of the week a president, George Lilly, secretary of the Michigan Laundry Owners association, and vice presi- dent, F. J. Novak. A golf tournament and tennis tournament will be started in the next few days. Other tourna- ments for the wives of the secretaries and other women present will be started. WINS GOLF HONORS Mrs. Charles M. Case won the women's golf championship at Illinois golf club last week by defeating Mrs. Robert McKay in the finals. Women of the club will entertain the Women's Western Golf association at open day, September 7. Special events have been planned for the day and prizes will be awarded.
