September 3, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 17 Golf Notes Play for Championship Westmoreland golfers will compete this week end for the club champion- ship, playing the qualifying round Sat- urday and the finals Monday. The lowest sixteen to qualify will play in the 36-hole finals Labor Day, and the championship will be decided by medal scores on the 54 holes. The winner will receive a Glen View club championship golf medal and have his name engraved on the championship cup. Other events of the week-end will be a club handicap tournament, directors' trophies and ball sweepstakes. Plans are being made for "Two Days," the invitation tournament to be held September 10. Archer Is Champion J. D. W. Archer won the Westmore- land club championship Sunday by de- feating Bob Moore 6 and 5 in the finals. This is the fourth time he has won the club title. Previous wins were in 1914, 1916 and 1922. Dr. J. A. Cava- naugh captured the Fellowship trophy Saturday with a card of 84-13-71. At Community Links T. D. Harvey and Herman Fell meet Saturday afternoon to play for the club championship at the Evanston Com- munity links. At the North Shore C. P. Evans defeated R. T. Metzger 2 and 1, in the finals of the Hal Read- ing trophy played at North Shore Sat- urday. Qualifiers in the club championship will play their first round matches Sat- urday.
