September 3, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Workman Finds Jewelry Kenilworth Woman Lost Jewelry valued at $4,500 and lost Au- gust 25, by Mrs. W. C. Snoddy of 227 Raleigh road, Kenilworth, was found by a laborer working on the excava- tions for a new building at Michigan avenue and Erie street, Chicago. Mrs. Snoddy had tied the jewelry, consisting of two bracelets and two rings, in a handkerchief and placed them in her lap while she was driving downtown. Parking the car at the Erie and Michi- gan corner, she made a tour of the shops and then missed the jewelry. Mr. Snoddy asked the foreman of the jewels as they worked, and offered a $500 reward to the finder. Richards to Speak on "Pitching Camp" Sunday The sermon topic for the morning service at Winnetka Congregational church Sunday, at 11 o'clock, will be "Pitching Camp." Rev. James Austin Richards, who will preach at this time will also preach in the evening at §, when his sermon topic will be, "Religi- ous Impressions from the Northwest." Rev. Richards will deliver the Junior sermon at the morning service at which time the Lord's Supper will be observed. Mrs. Henry P. Crowell of 770 Hum- boldt avenue has as her guest, her sis- ter, Mrs. Edgar C. Hill of Port Clin- ton, Ohio, formerly of Evanston. Mr. Hill arrived today to spend the week- end. Over Labor Day the party will cruise along the lake on the Crowells' yacht, the Perry Kay, II wit Mrs. Stanley Brown and Miss Errol K. Brown of Garden City, N. Y., are the guests of Mrs. J. VILLAGE OF In the Superior Court of Cook County, Illinois WINNETKA General Number 461231 Special Assessment Notice NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN to all persons interested that the Village of Winnetka, Cook County, Illinois, having ordered that a local improvement be made in Euclid Avenue, from the existing pavement at the north line extended of Scott Avenue, north to the north limits of the Village of Winnetka, by grading, curbing and paving with reinforced Port- land cement, including excavation, re- moval of all surplus materials and cost of engineering services, all within the Village of Winnetka, County of Cook and State of Illinois, the ordinance for the same being on file in the office of the Village Clerk of said Village, and the said village having applied to the Super- ior Court of Cook County, Illinois, for an assessment of the cost of said improve- ment according to the benefits, and a special assessment therefor having been made and returned to said Court, Gen- eral Number 461231, the final hearing thereon will be held on the twenty-ninth day of August, A. D. 1927, or as soon thereafter as the business of the said Court will permit. All persons desiring may file objections in said Court before said day, and may appear on the hear- ing and make their defense. Said ordi- nance provides for the collection of said assessment in six (6) annual installments, with interest thereon at the rate of five ver centum (5%) per annum.
