Mr. Woodward has been playing in Phila- delphia. "Little Spitfire," the first offering of the season, is the comedy drama which appeared at the Cort last year. The second week's bill will be "The Mean- est Man in the World," and following productions will be "Seventh Heaven," "Easy Mark," "The Show Off," "In Love with Love," "Lightning," and "Thank You." The New Evanston has been com- pletely renovated for the season. A large stage crew is being maintained for stage setting, which, Mr. Elliot states, will be superior to that of last year. Seats are now on sale and sea- son reservations are being taken. Varsity Open Despite Trouble in Movie Ranks Despite trouble between the Chicago Exhibitors' association and the Motion Picture Operators' Union, which caused all Chicago movies to close, the Varsity continued in operation. However, the Campus theater closed as did the Village theater in Wilmette. The Varsity has sufficient films on hand to operate through Thursday, ac- cording to the management.
