We cordially invite you to inspect our new and wonderful stock of merchandise. | CE m------ Concert Singer Added to Music School Staff School An addition to the Music faculty of Northwestern university is | announced this week by Prof. Loyal Phillips Shawe, head of the depart- ment of voice--Miss Mima Montgom- ery, a former pupil of Lili Lehmann and Franz Emerich in Berlin, and for- merly head of the department of voice at Wellesley college. Miss Montgomery has recently re- turned from an engagement with the National Stats opera at Munich. She is a graduate of the New Enrgland Conservatory of Music at Boston and has had extensive concert and oratorio work in America, appearing with both | the Boston and San Francisco Sym- phony orchestras. After spending considerable time with the American Red Cross in Europe during the World War, she became a member of the faculty of the college of the Pacific at Stockton, California. Later she be- came head of the department of voice at Wellesley and then spent time studying and appearing in Europe. Mr. and Mrs. John P. During all this time, Bemus' riding partner, Frank Rayburn, has been rid- ing alone and giving a splendid ex- ample of a single handed minion of the law, Now, just to even matters up and ito give Bemus an opportunity to demonstrate his efficiency as a solo guardian of the peace, Rayburn de- parted Friday for his annual vacation which will terminate October 1. North Shore Fire Chiefs Attend State Convention Fire chiefs of the north shore vil- lages attended the annual convention | of the Illinois State Firemen's associa- tion which opened in Jacksonville Monday morning with an address of | welcome by JI. J. Reaves, mayor of the city. Chiefs G. M. Houren of Winnetka, | and Walter Zibble of Wilmette made the trip together. They left Tuesday evening, and returned Thursday. Mrs. Leslie A. Weary of Glencoe and her little daughter left early this week to spend three weeks in New York. Mrs. Weary will visit her sister and her mother, and then motor with friends to Virginia and through the Virginia valley.
