At this meeting final plans for the raising of the annual budeet of the North Shore Area council will be worked out. The general procedure will be as last vear, each town organizing its com- mittee to raise its share of the gener- al fund. The money raised is used in the fol- lowing items in the council budeet: salary of Scout executive, assistant executive and clerical help; traveling expense in going from town to town, in visiting troops, conferring with heads of institutions sponsorine troops. and with committeemen; office rent, licht, telephone, etc.; office equinment, files, etc.; office supplies, stationery. nrinting, forms, etc.; equipment for hikes and camning snch as stove for "the Cabin in the Woods," cots, etc., cooking utensils, etc.; in training courses for Scout leaders, notebooks. nrinted matter. books, etc.; for rallies. tronhies. field day, etc.; for educational publicity, used in keeping the public and S c o ut parents particularly in touch with Scouting aims and progress, quarterly reports to "stock- holders" or contributors to the Scout work. These and other items are in- cluded in the year's budget as drawn up by the committee on finance and budget. Scouting has almost doubled in numbers during the past year in the area served by the North Shore Area council, thus making desirable a larger budget for a growing service, it is ex- plained. Decide Upon One More Skokie Club Musicale There is to be another of the Sun- day afternoon musicales at Skokie Country club, which will be the last one of the season. On September 25, at 4:30 o'clock the Amy Neill string quartet will give the program. This quartet is a new one, composed of splendid Chicago musicians. It is to make its debut at Kimball Hall in Oc- tober, but those who attend the Sko- kie Country club musicale will have the privilege of hearing it before this, The quartet consists of Miss Neill, first violinist; Stella Roberts, second violinist; Charlotte Polak, viola; Lois Bichl, 'cellist. All of them are fine musicians and have been highly praised wherever they have appeared. New Trier's Secretary to Study at Chicago U Miss Lillian Doing, secretary to Superintendent Frederick E. Clerk of the New Trier High school, has been granted a leave of absence for one year and will enroll in work at the University of Chicago. Miss Doing's place will be taken during her ab- sence by Miss Gertrude Wagner, a graduate of New Trier and previously employed in the registration depart- ment of the school. BENEFIT IN OCTOBER October 15, is the date chosen by the National Alumnae association of the National Kindergarten and Ele- mentary college for the benefit bridge for the college building fund. Alumnae in charge are Mrs. Harry G. Phillips of Evanston, and Mrs. Fred Porter of Ra- vinia, co-chairman of general arrange- ments. Miss Anna Murray of Evanston is in charge of the sale of tickets. Miss Jean Markley, daughter of the Joseph Markleys of 777 Burr avenue, has returned to Wellesley college.
