September 24, 1927 WINNETKA TALK Design Dormitories for New Military School Pictured above is the architect's per- spective of the proposed dormitories for the North Shore Military academy which is to be opened for regular classes on Monday, October 3. The school is located in Niles Center just south of the Evanston Golf club. The new military academy is spon- sored by prominent Chicago and north shore people and is described as most fortunately located with all the natural facilities for unhampered ex- pansion. Establishment of the school, it is explained, is in response to a very definite demand for a military academy on the north shore. Similar schools throughout. the United States are putting Chicagao and north shore boys on their waiting lists because of lack of facilities and this new school is designed to fill the resultant demand for that character of training. The faculty of the military academy is to be comprised of graduates of Dons Russian Garb to Address Eighth Graders Children of the eighth grade at the Skokie school, who since the resump- tion of classes two weeks ago have been studying about Russia in their social science work, had the oppor- tunity last Thursday of hearing about the schools and children of that coun- try and of dress. Superintendent and Mrs. Carleton W. Washburne, who, in the course of their travels last summer, went to Russia and visited schools and various places of interest there, appeared be- fore the class in actual Russian cos- tume, Mr. Washburne telling about the Russian people, schools, cities and other matters of interest. seeing how the peasants LJ to be had. shore towns. service.
