Bradley, with the prestige of the Little Nine- teen championship, and a remarkable list of victories in three years, invades the stadium this Saturday. On October 8, Potsy Clark, famous Illinois quarterback in 1914 and 1915, takes Butler to Champaign. Clark has just taken charge of the football desti- nies at the Hoosier institution and his appearance at the head of the invaders adds much interest to the engagement. Many fans will travel to see the first games. The Illinois team is progress- ing in its early season drills. Thirteen letter men are available but a band of aggressive sophomores--Crane, guard, Gorden and Burdick, tackles, Jolley, end, and Mills, Humbert and Walker, backs, have shown promise and may displace some of the veterans. Against both Bradley and Butler Coach Zuppke will start his strongest lineups. There will be no question of "loafing along" in these contests. Jud Timm, chief hope of the new backs, kept from play last season, will play against Bradley and Butler. Blair French is the leading quarterback. Captain Bob Reitsch, all-conference center, is due to lead his men in their first game of the season, from his pivot post. Bradley is captained by Roy Carlson, of Chicago, thrice chosen as an all-state end. Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Lytton Smith and their son, Theodore, are returning home today from Mackinac Island, where they have been spending the lat- ter part of the summer. Hugh Elmer Brown at 8:30 in the eve- ning at an improvised altar in the large living room of the DeGolver home. A reception was held for the guests after the ceremony. Mrs. Robert H. Sanford of Evanston was the matron of honor and Miss Anne Barratt of Evanston and Miss Catherine Johnson of Maryland were the maids of honor. Serving as brides- maids were Miss Margaret Bush, Miss Barbara Jones, Miss Elizabeth Date and Miss Mary Elizabeth Cunningham, all of Evanston. Lawrence Connor of Boston was Mr. Clarke's best man, and the ushers were Frederick Wolff of Chicago, Finley Cameron, Jr., of Minneapolis, and Dwight Clark and J. Rex Allen, Jr., both of Evanston. Mr. and Mrs. Clarke are motoring through Canada on their honeymoon and after November 1, will be at home at 138 Prospect avenue, Brockton, Mass.
