Sherman Lodge No. 892, I.O.O.F, is very much alive as was demonstrated last week Thursday when over forty of its members made a trip in a chartered bus to the Odd Fellows' Lodge at Barrington. A short lodge session was held in the hall in Wilmette at 6:30 p.m., and then the crowd left at 7:15 for Bar- rington, picking up members at Win- netka, Hubbard Woods, and Glencoe. It was a jolly bunch that crowded into Barrington's small hall at 8:20 that evening. With the members from the north shore those from Barrington and Palatine, there were over 100 Odd Fellows at the meeting. The A. T. Shermanites started in immediately to liven things up. After facetious remarks from a number of the Sherman boys, there was communi- ty singing that could have been heard all through that quiet little town. But the police force did not molest us--for he was an Odd Fellow too. Besides, we had part of Winnetka's police de- partment with us. Recitations by several members, stunts of various kinds by others, violin and accordian duets, banjo solos, story-telling, and music by the A. T. Sherman orchestra made the evening pass altogether too quickly. The refreshments of sand- wiches and coffee, furnished by the visitors, were relished by all. Miss Nancy McCloud of Kenilworth entertained on Saturday afternoon, October 1, celebrating her fifth birth- day.
