This time it will be Tim McCoy Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer historical star who will reveal the intrigue of the Manchu rulers a little more than a quarter of a century ago when a con- certed effort was made to murder every white man, woman and child in north- ern China. The Boxer uprising has been written into a clever screen story by Peter B. Kyne, one of America's foremost writers. McCoy is seen in the role of the American military attache at the Peking legation. Claire Windsor, who played opposite McCoy in "The Frontiersman," is seen in the featured feminine role of a lovely young English noble-woman. "Becky," the Cosmopolitan picture playing Wednesday and Thursday--a film adaptation of Raynor Selig's fa- mous Cosmopolitan newspaper serial which has held millions of readers spell- bound during the last few months. Sally O'Neil plays the title role of a little Irish-Jewish shop girl with an ambition to become a grand opera singer. Discharged from the depart- ment store, by an irate floorwalker, she meets a young man of doubtful character--in fact a crooked crook. 'Through his love for the girl he is regenerated and it is not until after the heroine's adventures on the stage and in society that she spurns the hand of a rich man to wed the now regen- erated pickpocket. Owen Moore plays the role of the crook. Rin-Tin-Tin in "Jaws of Steel" will be the offering on Friday and Satur- day. This is Rinty's biggest, ripsnort- ingest thriller, and has to do with his . being lost in the desert from a pioneer's flivver, growing up in the desert to be a wild wolfish savage, and finally saving the friends, Mr. and Mrs. Warren and the Kid, from dangers that threaten them. In support are Jason Robards, Helen Ferguson, Baby Mary Louise Miller, Robert Perry, Jack Curtis and George Conners. Ray Enright directed. THE MINTURN PLAYERS At the Chateau theater the Minturn players next week will present "The Bad Man"--Love finds a way! This was never truer than in "The Bad Man." In this instance, the way is a Mexican bandit who rides into the complications, creates a few more, loaded with gales of laughter, and then, having straightened everything out, rides away again. Minturns to Present "Bad Man" Next Week The Minturn Players at the Chateau theater have been presenting this week the high life farce-comedy "The Fall of Eve," a clever little play which has both warranted and been accorded favorable comment. The program for the coming week is "The Bad Man," the Porter Emerson Browne comedy that relates in no un- certain manner how on thé road to happiness one may encounter a lot of detours and bad patches before reach- ing the desired "track's end." Mr. Browne, the author, has been quoted as saying that he wrote 150,000 words before he was satisfied with the 15,000 that made the final play. At all events, his months of hard labor re- sulted in a comedy that has run for a solid season in New York City and has been selected by experts as one of the finest examples of what a play should be that has been produced during thg past five years. "The Bad Man" is a story of Ameri- can ranch rife close to the Mexican border. Community House Schedules "Chang" and "Metropolis" The German production, "Metropo- lis," which has attracted so much com- ment wherever shown, has been sched- uled by the Winnetka Community House as the attraction for Tuesday, November 8 The second chapter of "Blake of Scotland Yard" will also be shown at that time. The second feature picture for the week will be "Chang" which will be shown on both Friday and Saturday in matinee and evening performances. "Chang" is one of the most fascinating film stories of the jungles that has ever been shown.
