WINNETKA TALK November 12, 1927 STATE BANK AND TRUST COMPANY EVANSTON, ILLINOIS announces with pleasure that MR. HAROLD H. HAWES heretofore with the Guaranty Company of New York has become associated with its Investment Department as Sales Manager. Myr. and Mrs. Champ Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Harvey made the championships at the Evanston Com- munity Golf club a strictly family affair this past season by winning top honors in both the women's and club tournaments. It was a commonplace thing for Mrs. Harvey to do as she has won the title every year she has played at the Community club, and that means six times. But for her husband it was the first time. Mrs. Charles Knight of Evanston was hostess Wednesday last for Les Matineés Francaises. 1927 Witnesses Numerous Motor Accidents Here A marked increase in careless driv- ing, "or what have you," is shown in a compilation of vehicular accidents in Winnetka, as compared with those during the entire year of 1926, when the total showed 95, as against 140 in 1927, up to and including November 8. The only consolation to be derived from a further study of the data goes to the women drivers. Only 72 of the drivers involved in accidents were women, while 339 were men, but the percentage of men drivers is far greater than women, it is pointed out. One of the outstanding features of the analysis is, that only 159 Winnetka drivers were involved, as against 257 who are non-residents of the village, indicating a far better observance of traffic regulations and precautionary measures by Winnetkans than by others passing through the village. These statistics were prepared by the Winnetka Police department for Village Manager H. L. Woolhiser and the members of the Village board, to be used in connection with the study and survey which is being given auto- mobile traffic problems in the village at this time. SORORITY GIVES HOMECOMING The Alpha Phi sorority is giving a homecoming tea Sunday, November 13, for all alumnae and their husbands.
