--" A November 12, 1927 WINNETKA TALK 3 = Junior League to Present Play in Winnetka Nov. 30 The Junior league, which is an or- ganization of young society women in Chicago and suburbs, presents plays every year especially adapted for chil- dren. These plays are always given to raise money for some worthy cause. The young women give endless time and energy to these efforts, which now compare favorably with many professional performances. The plays are given on Saturday mornings in the city. Among the young women taking part is Miss Brier Wright, who will do a specialty dance. She has been coached by Miss Vivian Duncan. This year Winnetka is to have these plays given in the Skokie school audi- torium. They will be given for the benefit of the Winnetka Nursery school. The first play, "The Rose and the Ring," will be given Wednesday after- noon, November 30, at 4 o'clock, and the second, "The Land of Oz" on February 8. Notices of these perform- ances and applications for tickets have been sent home by the children of the schools. Send in your application promptly as the tickets will be sold in the order of application. All seats are reserved. Tickets may be obtained from Mrs. Dudley French, Winn. 395. Plant Elm Trees on Parkways in South Winnetka Elm trees, three inches in diameter are being set out in the parkway on Briar, Meadow and High streets in the new Indian Hill section of Win- netka, south of Winnetka avenue, where eight new residences have been erected since last spring. Streets in this section were paved during the past summer and the assess- ment for the improvement includes the setting of trees in the parkway, which work, however, had to be postponed until this fall. A number of additional trees are also being placed on Winnet- ka avenue at this time. In addition to the eight new houses erected in the area between Winnetka avenue and the south limits of the village, a number of new homes have also been built just across the line in Kenilworth. The south line of the lots fronting on Meadow road is the divid- ing line between the two villages at this point. The new residences in this vicinity are all in the $15,000 class, or over, and, with the coming of spring, it is said many more are contemplated.
