WINNETKA TALK November 19, 1927 Marion I. Calkins 724 Elm Street Winnetka Name Local Woman Head of . Voter's League Committee Mrs. William I. Ninabuck, for the past year chairman of the committee on Women in Iudustry of the Win- netka League of Women Voters, has been named chairman of the same committee of the National organiza- tion it has been announced. The an- nouncement was received with much pride by members of the local league as Mrs. Ninabuck's activities in this connection have been a source of great satisfaction to local members of the Voter's league during the past year. Mrs. Ninabuck has held many posi- tions which particularly qualify her for this office. Her first position after graduation from the University of Wisconsin was as employment manager of the Holeproof Hosiery company in Milwaukee. During the World war she served with Amy Hewes in the Woman's Service section of the Ordin- ance department in Chicago as em- ployment advisor. After the war she was connected with the Industrial Re- lations department of the International Harvester company. The picture of a group of amateurs putting on a play for charity comes home to Winnetka, especially at this season. The cast was well chosen by Mrs. John Marshall, and was most skillfully directed. Mrs. William Ogden Coleman played most admirably Mrs. Pampinelli, the director of the amateurs. Her noble manner and gestures, and especially her readiness to "take a bow" con- vulsed the audience. Mr. Ritter was most excellently portrayed by Donald Morrison. His versatility is very un- usual, and whether as St. Francis, or the modern business man perplexed by the vagaries of his lovable wife, he is equally ready in the part. Mrs. Rit- ter. the amateur star, was extremely well presented by Mrs. William Gold Hibbard, III. The Community Players are glad to have her on their list again. Flirtatious Role Scores Probably Mrs. Nellie Fell, alias Mrs. Gertrude Thurston, the flirtatious prompter, gave as much joy to the hearers as any one actor. Nevertheless, Barrett Conway as the villian; Lyman Weld as Mr. Twiller, so eager to get gestures and lines bet- ter each night, so self-possessed when his mustache fell off "only twice": Al- fred Freeman as Mr. Soindler, never readv with his cues; all these added greatly to the fun of the evening. To- gether with Miss Hardine, Mrs. Mal- colm Ward, Miss Fmma Rummler, and the Rev. Malcolm Ward. the plav was an excellent precursor of what will fol- low later. Much praise is due the folks behind the scenes for the artistic set- ting, properties, and general smooth, effective presentation of the play. Xmas Play ie Next The next appearance of the Com- munity players will be on Dec. 14 and 15. when the annual Christmas play will be given without charge to all the people of the village. American Legion to Install New Officers Monday The installation of the newly-elected officers of the Winnetka Post No. 10 of the American Legion will be held at the next meeting of the post which will be next Monday. At that time E. G. Howell will be installed as commander of the post, succeeding Dr. Frank W. Blatchford, who has been the head of the local legion during the past year. in addition to the installation ceremony a program of entertainment has been arranged which will include motion pictures of the Legion convention held in Paris re- cently.
