The matter has been before the council for several weeks and numer- ous hearings have been held and sev- eral conferences called between neigh- borhood property owners, who were the objectors, the oil company and the plats and zoning committee of the council of which Trustee Doris D. Ben- son is chairman. The final decision was taken at the meeting of the council Tuesday eve- ning, as a result of an opinion by Vil- lage Attorney Frederick Dickinson that the existing zoning ordinance does not specifically permit filling stations | in districts zoned "C commercial." The council instructed the superin- tendent of public works to place this interpretation on the zoning ordinance, which means the denial of the permit on zoning grounds. The oil company, through its repre- sentative at a former meeting of the council, announced that previous to purchasing the tract which it proposed to improve with an oil station, sought information as to the provisions of the zoning ordinance relative to the matter, and was informed, it said, that the oil filling station was permissible. Mrs. Harry A. Peters of 533 Lincoln avenue, Glencoe, entertained her card club at luncheon and bridge Friday. > Prices 2-Ton(6-cylinder) $1595 2-Ton Dump (6-cylinder) - 1645 1%-Ton - + 1245 1-Ton G-Boy - 895 34-Ton Commercial 670 (Chassis prices f. 0. b.
