This observ- ance has been built upon the principle which was given to the Christian world long, long ago, that "it is more blessed to give than to receive." As a nation we are grateful at the end of the har- vest for all the rich gifts which come to us as a people who dwell in a land of plenty. Yet even in our own land there are those who, through the force of circumstances and, sometimes, acci- dent, are cut off from a generous share of the things that many of us accept as so common.
